So the last day for Hells Bells of Hulls...

Chris Evans|15:41 UK time, Friday, 23 December 2011

In the studio that is. She'll still be very much directing the crew from the bridge but no more baggy eyed early mornings. 'I'm going to change my life !' she declared. And when Hells says she's going to do something, she usually carries it through.

And how good was Mary Berry today?! There's a gal who has dug in deep to life and eeked out every bit of what it has to offer. The lady is simply amazing. I think I may be in love (again - swoon).

So that's it from us for another year. Thanks for the loan of your ears. It is very much appreciated. Now have a lovely time at Crimbo and let's have you all back in the new year. Oh, and be ready. We're going to be very busy. There's something called The Olympics going on and The Queen is thinking of having a bit of a do for her Golden Jubilee.

Toodle pip.

Is it Christmas yet ?

Peace and Love.

Happy Christmas Chris, Tash, Noah, Jade and Bump, Vassos, Lynn, Moira, Hells Bells and all the wonderful Breakfast Show Show - without you all, mornings would be dark and dull - and thank you Chris for this lovely blog: how we all feared it would die when you transferred to Breakfast from Drivetime.

Today's Advent window revealed a Snowman.

Switching off now for some family time, and a trip to our favourite eatery for tea.

    Long live friendship.

The Show this week has been everything we would want it to be - uplifting and joyful and excited!

Merry and Joyful Christmas to all involved and it sounds like 2012 is already lining up to be a wonderful New Year!

    Hi All

Deebee from the Mayoblog here, in my festive disguise. Just wanted to wish a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and peaceful New Year to Chris, the team and all you lovely Evansbloggers.

And I have it on good authority that Hells Bells' replacement Andy is a really good thing. He's been producing Drivetime for the past 2 years.

Thanks Chris for another radio blast of a year, your enthusiasm and your banter everyday is a joy.
The highlights of this year for me was my trip to New York in February to celebrate my 60th which was everything I had always dreamed it would be and
turning 60 not being half as bad as I thought it would be and
my daughters announcement that she is expecting a baby in the New Year and watching her grow from "my little girl" into a lovely woman.
Meeting some of you lovely bloggers and our wonderful experience at BBC Radio 2 CiN and of course as Deevs mentioned us all singing Sweet Child O' Mine at the end which is a very special song.

New year resolution? To try and get on here more often.

    Love and Peace

    Happy New Year everyone.

I've been thinking about Diva's question about the highlights of this year and decided my brain must have started leaking - couldn't think of anything at first

Then I started to remember the good year we have had.

Highlights have been racing down the Thames on a inflatable boat,

The R2 festival in a day - truly one of the best days we have had and, of course,

CiN day, from the hug from Chris at the start of the day to Sweet Child of Mine at the end

I'm sure there are more but I need to remind myself what I did!

It's been a good year and it's probably time to raise a glass to all my blog buddies who have shared it!

    Evening all,

What a great show it was this morning! Such a fab idea to have a cookery expert in to answer all the queries and offer tips!! I am not a fan of Mary Berry as a person too much, but you can't fault her on her cookery tips, plus her recipe for a double-crust apple pie has NEVER let me down and is always a popular option (puds are not my speciality!!!). Plus, Aga-talk is always comforting - I remember, as a young girl, staying in a holiday cottage with my family in Lancashire - the cottage had its own field and an Aga in the kitchen. One day, me and my mum picked fresh field mushrooms in the morning and made fresh mushroom soup on the Aga for lunch that day... top stuff!

My best day this year was definitely the CiN Day - so thanks again to Deevs for organising it and to Baggy for putting me up one night to make it possible for me - HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAGGY!!!

Anyhoo - thanks to all, those on AND off the airwaves (and to the blog mods), for being so fabulous.

HAVE A FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS - and I hope 2012 brings you nothing but joy and happiness.

    With love,

Is a beautiful day here - hope it lasts

Today has to be big old sorting out and tidying up day - there's a heap of ironing with my name on

I have reminded my boys - 15 and nearly 13 yrs old - that Father Christmas doesn't bring toys to boys who haven't tidied their bedrooms

Are they allowed to look at me in that tone of voice? ;-)

    Happy Christmas Eve chums!

LOL Sezza - my dad used to say to me (when I was having one of my childhood "moments") "don't look at me in that tone of voice young lady!" - that's really made me smile reading it on here. Thank you x

Well, here we are - it's Christmas Eve and all that needs to be done has been done. Nic's disappeared into town for some secret last minute shopping so I thought I'd pop by, and just catch up before turning this off for a few days to enjoy Christmas.

Advent Window #24 of course, revealed a bit gold shiny STAR! Anything else would be wrong, wouldn't it?

We popped to the local farm shop this morning to pick up some of their delicious sasisages and some bacon. Surprisingly it was almsot empty. We thought we'd be queueing for ageeeeeees but no, in and out in minutes. They've got some lovestock there so we had a giggle with MiniNic looking at the goats, chickens, donkey and pigs making up silly voices (think Jonny Morris!) - the little one was in hysterics at his dads goat voice. Bless!

Right everyone, have a really terrific Christmas. Cherish your loved ones, and raise a glass to the absent friends who are never far from your heart.

Meat ready for the oven in the morning.
    Just the veg to prepare.

    Bring on the takeaway!

Not that I'll be able to taste it as I am full of cold and have a really muggy head, but hey, there are a lot of people worse off than me, so I wish you all good health for the festive season and the coming year.

See you on the other side!

Annie, sounds like you had a lovely time with your family

I'm really looking forward to spending the day with my family tomorrow - Mum's Christmas Dinner - yum yum yum!

Boxing Day might be a little more tricky. We're going to Mr Sezza's parents for tea. I used to be one of 3 daughters-in-law. For the last few Christmas' I have been one of 2 and I have just heard today that, certainly for this Boxing day, I will be the only daughter-in-law.

I don't know what's happened but I think it's going to be a difficult time, especially for my brother-in-law and niece and nephew

Ho hum, there's always something, isn't there!

    Merry Christmas one and all,

We have had a near perfect day with George aged 1 (he has been totally spoilt!) and to think Christmas will only get better for the next few years! He is in the bath now scrubbing away some of the Christmas excess. ;-)

Brilliant news for the Military wives! A number 1 is an outstanding achievement for all concerned, a special mention to CLP and the team for the coverage they have given to it. The money will make such a difference to the charities benefiting from the sales.

Time for a chilled out evening with my feet up in front of the fire I think, noe I do not have many evenings like this. :-)

    Keep smiling

A just wanted ter say most shocked ter 'ear 'ells Bells of 'ull is moving ter places different ter The CLP Gig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After writing on the blog a think CLP talks too much about 'is personal life on air, a thought that's notta bad thing as other DJ's talk too little about such!!!!!!!!!
A like the fact CLP makes conversation with 'is co-presenters on everything from what 'e did at the weekend ter all about the team on 'is show, names included!!!!!!!!
A mean we wouldn't know about 'ells Bells of 'ull if CLP didn't mention 'is most nice producer from time ter time - know what am sayin'!!!!!!!!

The fact thatta 'eard The Mayo's producer is called Andy shocked me as for some reason a thought 'is producer was a woman!!!!!!!!!! (don't know where a got that from????)
But in alll the years The Mayo 'as been doing the Drivetime Gig.... Ave neve r'eard 'im mention Andy the producer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's times like these a feel a little like a mushroom.... Left in the dark!!!!!!!!!!
Whereas CLP does the exact opposite and keeps us very much informed with developments surrounding the show - know what am sayin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway.... 100% TRUE: When a 'eard Andy was leaving The Mayo Gig.... A was shocked all..... A thought why is it many people who reach the 'eights of radio..... Move on ter other pastures new!!!!!!!!
Take Jono S going inter teaching..... Jono S 'ad rela talent as a sports reporter reporting on live matches.... Not easy ter do!!!!!!!!!!
Now a know if somebody wants ter try something new or follow an ambition why not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But a for one if a got inter the 'eady 'eights of not only the Beeb but the 6th floor of R2.... Working with the radio gods..... A would cling ter the job for life all!!!!!!!!!!!

On 'earing Andy was leaving a was shocked..... And immediately 'ells Bells of 'ull popped inte rme 'eard as an example of someone who deosn't leave..... Somebody of stabiltiy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ALL 100% TRUE ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
THEN a look at the CLP Blog and SHOCK....... The very 'ells Bells Of 'ull who a was thinking about...... Is moving on ter new things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And in a MEGA twist ter me thoughts...... The leaving Andy is not leaving but moving ter fill the boots of the most nice 'ells Bells!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    DOUBLE SHOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A can fully understand though if 'ells Bells isn't leaving the beeb but moving ter promotion..... Maybe assistant controller R2 or something of similar stature..... Then a can fully understand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A mesen if blessed with such opportunities would stay at the beeb but seek promotion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT...... If 'ells Bells of 'ull is leaving the beeb and/ or even the world of media and music and broadcasting...... either way as she is a very nice person (and believe me a now, sorry know, she is as ave met 'elen more than once)..... Let me wish 'ells Bells Of 'ull ALL OF THE BEST in whatever she is moving ter do next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-))))))))))

A just 'ope The Andy can keep CLP in line as much as 'ells Bells did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tatty Bye!

  • Comment number 38.

A also just wanted ter say after me problems with the word 'opeing' taken from the word 'ope, thinking it might be confused with 'oping taken from the word 'op!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ave found out that 'oping is in fact spelt 'oping, aka yer drop the 'e'!!!!!!!!
And 'oping is in fact 'opping...... aka yer add a 'p'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Something a find most strange a ter 'ope is normally something that takes longer ter do than ter 'op!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A mean if yer are 'oping for something..... Normally it takes a long time ter arrive, for example ave been 'oping for a wife for 38 years 11 months now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet ter 'opping.... Is done in a very quick spring of the legs..... 'ence yer would think 'oping would be a longer word than 'opping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A find english very confusing all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am off for some brussel sprouts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (another confusing thing.... Brussel sprouts smaller than a cabbage, yet a bigger word..... No wonder so many of today's youth are 'oodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

    'ope this 'elps!

We just walked along by the yachts in their berths ,and ended up at the lock that lets the yachts out into the top end of Portsmouth harbour .It was just enough to blow away the cobwebs from yesterday .

Very mild out also which was a bonus ,and lots of other folk taking advatange of that as well, back home just in time for a visit from my aunt and cousin ,they have just gone and now the hardest decision of the day ...what are we going to have to eat this evening ..so many choices ..

    Hi everyone:

Just can't believe I couldn't get on here to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I hope everyone had a special time.

We had a lovely Christmas Day. MsS here to open her gifts, all of which she really loved. She gave me a mobile phone on which, apparently, I will be able to listen to the radio, when travelling to work - very exciting! I now realise that my existing mobile phone is probably worth a small fortune on the Antiques Road-programme-thingy.

MrS and I had a lovely afternoon - the meal was a great success (I must drink sherry more often!) and as we ate, we listened to Carols from Kings which we had recorded on the TV. All very magical.

Great news about the Military Wives - no surprise, but lovely all the same. Every one of them must be over the moon, and just wonderful for Gareth Malone and the incredible Paul Mealor. Lots of love to Chris for his effort. xx

MC: bless you, I was thinking of you while watching Donny. xx I kept saying to MrS "are you ok with this?" and by the end of the programme he said to me that he saw Donny in quite a different light. Donny was so honest, and just a complete sweetheart.

I hope everyone is ok, I'm very aware that I am so lucky to be on holiday until 4th January - I felt so guilty watching MrS head off to work yesterday morning - the joy of working in retail!

Best wishes to all on this wonderful blog, if I don't get back in the next couple of days, have a great New Year's Eve (Hogmanay, up here!).

Last, but certainly not least, lots of love to the fantastic Hells Bells - what an incredible lady, a great future lies ahead for her. xx

    Afternoon all,

Funny time these limbo days between Christmas and New Year, only half of the world seems to be working! All three of my children worked on Boxing Day. Personally I find it hard to take time off and do nothing so today even though I am supposed to be “resting” I will be spending my time assessing work and learning my lines for Pantomime.

I did spend some time at the sales yesterday and I have to say I was disappointed, not much on offer considering there is supposed to be a recession. Shopping is one of my least favourite pastimes so I was probably not to enthused.......

    hello everyone,
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, Boxing and Bank Holiday Tuesday, day!
    Gets so confusing doesn't it??
We all had a lovely time in our very cosy Manchester suburb house. The weather was mild and we have kept reasonably dry! (Apart from the obvious alcohol consumption!)
Myself got a kindle (hurrah - hints listened to and acted upon!) Himself got an espresso coffee maker which also does a rather nice frothy cappuccino- so I am a winner all round! kindle and cappuccino mmmmmmm!
Only trouble is I am unable to spend days in my PJs as many of you seem to be able to do, as Himself just cannot stand it!. I think it goes back to his growing up when his mother (who was generally sickly) , spent many a day in her "housecoat" (his words) not getting dressed atall from him going to school to getting home. I have never been able to spend time generally relaxing with PJs on. Any nightwear is for that specific purpose literally! i can see his point, as it brings back those bad memories but it would be nice just once .........!
We are looking forward to New Year away in a little inn with log fires (lovely) and beautiful surroundings for lots of walks!
We can also take our little dogs too so win/win again!
Hope everyone is well , and enjoying the break!

    Afternoon all.

Lovely to read all your posts about Christmas and what you've been doing.

I had a really lovely Christmas day and Boxing day with all the family. It was pretty hectic, but watching all the grandchildren opening their presents and getting very excited running and dancing round the house kept all the adults amused and on their toes most of the time.

I have spent most of today getting the house back in order. LOL!

Also I am very happy that today I finish my second lot of antibiotics, still deaf in my ears at the moment, but feel much better now than I have in the last few weeks, so hope to pop in here more often now.

Hope everyone is ok and had a wonderful Christmas and is now looking forward to seeing in the New Year.

Partner in Crime, nice to see you here. xx

    Lots of love.

Hi csn, welcome back. ooh sorry I SAID WELCOME BACK!!!

A new year's eve party sounds fun!!

It has been very quiet on here for the last couple of days, I know, I haven't posted either.

We had a lovely meal on Christmas Day - we ate exactly what we wanted (different mains and deserts), no cooking and no washing up... result!!! We will probably go there again next year.

Neither of us are party animals these days so we will be seeing in the new year at home with a glass of malt at midnight (a bottle of champagne will probably be opened earlier and I did buy a bottle of Baileys which we haven't touched yet....)

Just watching Dara O'Briain - he's quite a good stand up isn't he?

Morning all, just caught up, sounds like we all had the kind of crimbo we wanted. And that Bids is probably a few inches shorter all the walking she has been doing!

Back at work now, although working from home, but not many others in the company are - and I am the only senior manager around, so struggling to get motivated with all of the "out of office" emails I'm getting! bah humbug!

Csn, glad you are feeling a bit better, but I wont be joining in for new years, I'm not a fan, never have been, and will be in my bed well before midnight with ear plugs in!

Right best get a wiggle on, after a coffee first....

I trust that everyone has had a good festive break and is looking forward to a NYE celebration? Personally I'll not be doing a great deal. Staying at home, maybe a small port & brandy to help my poorly tummy and I'll be lucky if I make the bells at midnight.

    Hello,

Well I suppose I have to say Good morning seeing that it's turnen midnight, just sitting and unwinding after a lovely day.

It started by meeting up with MTF and having a good old catch up and a couple of hours walking on the beach and getting caught out by the waves at times .But so refreshing just what was needed to blow the cobwebs away.

Then it was back home to get ready to go to daughter No 2's for dinner, and they never fail to look after us and are the perfect hosts, and the grandsons seem to be stepping up to the mark also.

Grandson No 2 had an I pad for exmas and was showing me and said to granddad that he should buy grandma one ..I do like his style..but what moved me most that on the back of his Ipad he has had inscribed his name and ..RIP Steve Jobs.. what a lovely thought from a 14 year old ..on asking him why he had had it done at the Apple store his reply was that ,that was the last thing that he had designed .

    Morning all

Just popping by to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

I'm off on a mini adventure later to see the new year in with some friends, the adventure being finding the house we're meeting at as we've always met up elsewhere before. Still the sat nav seems to know roughly where it's going, so there's some degree of hope that I'll make it and if not I can munch all the cookies I'm in the middle of making, to take and share, and come home ;)

I'm considering trying some sales shopping tomorrow (assuming I can find some sales and with things I actually want in them) as like Sezza and others I've been working this past week (managed to cut down my usual hours a bit though which has been lovely) so haven't had time to venture out with my C word money.

Hope everyone is well and to chat more in the coming year

We are holding a NYE party chez Deebee - the first one we've hosted for ages so I'm a little bit nervous about it. I'll try and pop by to raise a glass before it all kicks off - of course I will be very organised and chilled (not!)

Also a happy anniversary to Bids! Mr B and I will be celebrating our Pearl anniversary in April. I like to tell the younger folks we got married in wartime - the Falklands war of course... Naturally I was a chid bride - as I'm sure you were too, Bids!
