No Sleep Till Showtime

Chris Evans|10:13 UK time, Tuesday, 23 March 2010

Did not sleep a wink last night - literally, not for a second...crazy potatoes.

I know exactly why - I was too excited, so excited that I was fretting. Fretting in the dark, which seems to last so much longer than in the daylight.

I fretted in the bedroom, in my study, in the living room, back in my study and then back in my bed.

I had something on my mind - so I know what it was that was keeping me awake - I just hopes it all dies down in time for tonight.

Feel like a total space cadet now, so need to get some 'zeds' for re-entry to the earth's atmosphere, sometime later on this afternoon.

Give my regards to your planet.

    Aw Christoff don't fret.

Nothing's ever as bad as the fear of it. Grab a power-nap today and a big hug from your loved ones, and all will be well.

And yous could be stuck in an air-vent...

That's not good Christoph. I need to get at least 5 hours in.
    What's on your mind ? C'mon - tell all

    Beez xx

  • Comment number 3.

It's awful Chris when that happens and as you say the night seems so much longer when there is no sleep involved.
Lots of zzz needed today to make up.

  • Comment number 4.

    Ere Christoff.

I've just looked up the meanin' of the word Fret.

Apparently, along with to Cause to become uneasy, it also means to Gnaw with the teeth in the manner of a rodent; and also to Form a passage or channel by erosion.....

Right, matey. If I find out yous were wit Rips in Glasgow on duct duty yous'll be frettin' alright.

Get that power-nap, sunshine. Yous'll need it.

Chris: shame about your sleepless night, but whatever is due to happen sounds like a biggie! You would never have known you had no sleep last night - this morning you sounded bright as a button. Get a wee siesta at some point today, and then hopefully this evening will be great!

Honestly - You come on here for once in your life to try and educate and inform and what do you get? Ridicule!

JG - If one of those shoes looks like a clown may have dropped it, it's mine....I got a bit carried away!

Chris - as you may know I also couldn't sleep last which is why I was replying to your tweeets.
I'm definitely not starting on the coffee again.....I'd never get a wink.

I agree though with what you said on the show, two weeks without caffeine and I've never felt better!

Right I'm up to Southport.......and praying that Clodagh's abroad.
    Not that sort of broad!!

I'll be waitin' on Ainsdale beach wit me bucket an' spade, me billy-can an' me wind-break. You'll know me, I'll be the one in the knitted cozzy wit barnacles, a couple a crabs an' a pram-wheel stuck to it, an' the flowery bathin' cap. An' don't be late; it'll take me some time to bury yous up to your neck before the tide comes in.

What d'yous want on the sandwiches, bloater paste or pilchards? Am not bringin' jelly after that spat wit Mister Whippy last time. Took me weeks to get the raspberry outa me hair, an' I couldn't switch 'is jingle off all the way home; I looked a right dipstick down the M58.

Aw Chris, no sleep is not good. Was it fretting about something exciting or summat worrying?

It's worse when you cannot sleep but haven't got a clue why. Hubby sez it's something worrying me subconsciously??? It must be very subconscious is all I can say. I usually end up reading on the sofa for an hour or 4 and/or watching a film on the old tellybox and then act like a zombie for the rest of the day. Luckily for me, I don't have 2 sleeplessness nights in a row, for which I am very grateful, hehehe. And, it always happens on a work day...never over the weekend. What's that all about then?

    Morning all

    Morning All

Know how you feel Christoff, didn't get much sleep as poorly girl kept me awake. Now on 2nd set of antibiotics from Doc, who has swabbed both of her ears and set them off for tests.

Poor girl was burning up with temperature, like her own personal hot water bottle, so I'm struggling this morning.

Beez sorry I missed your b'day, so belated congrats.

CSN hope your daughter is ok and you're not worrying too much.

UC how DARE yous. Listen. The only room I'm goin' in wit that psychopath Rips will be one wit a boxin' ring in it. Anyway, one glimpse a meself in that knitted cozzy will be guaranteed to dampen any red-blooded male's ardour so don't panic. Missus Rips is safe.

Anyway. Corned beef? Nah, mate. 'Aven't touched corned beef since Renee put an unopened can in the microwave, an' the whole of the street was evacuated after reports of a sniper. Made a right mess a the kitchen tiles and the dog never recovered. It'll be bloater paste wit jam an' a light dustin' a sand, followed by 2 oz. a cockles in vinegar. Outa the bag, too. Am not usin' paper plates this time after the debacle that was the missin' corn plaster last time. I still say it blew away, but there's no convincin' Rips...

Chris, Sorry you couldn't sleep, lets hope tonight is better. I woke at 5:30, I think it's the light mornings and of course the birdies singing.

Andy, Hugs again to the little one let's hope the antibiotics kick in soon for both your sakes xx

    Trust me - I'm a ducter!

Clodagh - I shall have that framed and installed in my downstairs water closet as Chris has done with Moira's potato recipe ( I never thought I'd write that combination of words), not only is it where I keep your Ummmm......fan mail and the bespoke underwear that you insist on posting to me. By the way - you need to take more care with your stitching, some of them have holes in the oddest places! It's also where I do my best thinking.

    LOL

Debbie, I flicked straight down to the end of the blog and only saw your post 65! looks very odd taken in isolation.

What a difference a year makes eh! Hope you're still heading in the right direction on your journey

Bingo, loving your posts about Queen and Paul Rogers. Saw them together at Cardiff and O2. Mr Seza went to O2 twice and took boys 2nd time. Have lovely pic of Boy2 fast asleep during Bo Rap!! He was little at the time!

Shopping now. Need a certain type of tomato soup for boy1. Guarenteed cure all in this household

Might have to get the hot cross bun loaf while I'm there!

Firstly can a just say ter the blog ploice 'thank you' for letting me blog show the show in Kharkiv!!!!!!!

PS A did meet one of the blog ploice at the CLP Drivetime O2 Farewell Gig & a thought she was VERY nice & a would ave been more than willing ter go out for a drink with 'er - no funny business just discussing showbizzness in friendship terms!!!!!!!!
Am always willing ter meet new friends... and ESPECIALLY if they work at R2!!!!!!!!
In fact a will let all inter a little secret.... a waz nearly gonna ask 'elen Thomas out for a drink when a 'eard she waz single!!!!!!!!!!
She also seemed VERY nice!!!!!!! n fact she didn't seem nice.... she damn waz!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although ave since 'eard she 'az a... well a can't say although CLP did say on air.... so maybe a will... a man in Newport!!!!!!!!
But since a 'ad a mini breakdown on the blog recently.... am keeping away from R2 az all there must think am unbalanced & a NUTTER!!!!!!!
So if 'elen Thomas iz reading this - don't worry yer safe!!!!!!
Plus am sure am the last person she would wanter go out for a drink with after me recent blog madness!!!!!!
Aving said that it iz only because of what life does ter me... and women!!!!!
Even though am noot a NUTTER... life just tests me sanity more than most but less than some - know what am sayin'!!!!!!!
Must admit though.... beautiful eyes 'elen Thomas 'as... and VERY 'ard working & intelligent & talented - a admire that very alot in a woman!!!!!!!

Forgotten whatta came on ere ter wreet know, sorry now!!!!!!

Oh I yeah.... Beezer... am so glad yer forgive me!!!!!!!
A feel it's so bad & rude of me ter fogeet yer birthdee!!!!!!!!
Maybe it's cos yer on The Cusp!!!!!!!!!
Strange thing though a normally always remember people's star signs... for example CLP - Aries Jono S - Aries.... 'elen Thomas - Gemini... alotta fire on the breakfast gig there but probably one of the reasons why they all get on so spiffingly!!!!!!!!
In fact Beezer being a Aries just am sure yer would be well suited ter a slot on the breakfast gig!!!!!!
Lynn Bowles can#t remember what sign she iz but am sure she iz a fire sign too... gemini or leo.... probably why everteem a ring up 'er 'otline we always end up aving an argument over the M6!!!!!!!!
All ter do with a clash of astrology!!!!!!!!

Any way ave said enough mad things for one dee... am outta ere!!!!!!

PS Susan upon Tyne - lovin' your work too!!!!!!
Thanks for lovin' my work... yer know being a truck driver is ok!!!!!!! Yer wreet... a love it too!!!!!!

Andy Toverson - Ello ter yersen too!!!!!!

    Bye!

    Hello Everyone,

Haven't had chance to read all the blogs, but I must say Bingo, you Tinker!, you got me really worried yesterday when you said you had done something really bad! And it turns out you'd only forgotten to take your bags for life to the supermarket!! I shall have to take a pinch of salt with your next confession! Glad to see you back on top form!

Really enjoyed the show this morning Chris, playing Middle of the Road took me back a bit! Hot Hits One probably! Didn't catch the Friday show, so I don't know what sporting challenge you're up to tomorrow. You must slow down a bit lad, I'm fair exhausted reading the last few blogs of yours!

    Evening all

Sorry for disappearing, one of those days, a bit like Beez is having I think.

Andy, hope your little one is on the mend, I must admit I chuckled at the ears comment!

Seza, hope boy 1 is soon better too, soup normally does the trick in our house too!

Clodagh and Rips - thanks for the smiles and the pomes, someone you two have kept me sane today, but I'm not sure how that works?

Welcome back Debbie, good to see you and hope you're well?

Well another wet drive home, but at least there was no need to stop anywhere tonight to get soaked!

Mr JG dosappointd cos he thought there was footie on the telly tonight, I told him there wasn't, but I'm a girl and what do I know? Well I know how to read the telly pages! hehe

    Anyway, better feed the dog

    Evening each

Chris, know just how you're feeling. Can't remember when I last slept a whole night.

Gorgeous little boys have just gone. The 7yr old lives on his own planet all the time. He was checking out deadly transformers on here while telling me about hieroglyphics and the ancient Egyptians. He's lost his two front teeth too so he looks specially gorgeous. BTW: just for your information when Noah starts losing his - it's £2 a tooth!

By gum Annie what happened to it being sixpence? Did you see what I did there!

    Bingo - properly modded eh

  • Comment number 80.

Good Grief Annie!! You might want to have a word with the tooth fairy in your area. Here she leaves £1 for the first tooth then 50p for the rest as long as they're clean and the tooth fairy can tell if they've been cleaned after they fell out

Bingo, missed that on before the modders got it. What did you say?

Tried tom soup but didn't really want much, just a little toast. Now snuggled up in pj's and going to bed soon!

    Anyone heard how MTF is?

Beez - flat shoes for Debs this weekend. I'm definitely not taking her to the horspital, it would be too embarrassing, specially if she's singing.

    xxxxx

  • Comment number 95.

Annie - I thought we were going to leave all the singing to Jovial - he's bringing along his own fan club!! If she wants to try on any of my shoes again - agree - the one pair of flats I possess will be in my mega handbag! Don't want her highjacking another wedding party for their opinion!!
