Alexandra Burke has a special message for fans ahead of her appearance in Les Misérables
Hi Guys,
Alexandra Burke here!
I’m so excited to be performing in the West End in Les Misérables for BBC Children in Need’s Pop Goes the Musical. I’ll be joining the West End cast on stage at The Queen’s Theatre on Tuesday 18 September. It’s such a wonderful opportunity. Les Mis is such an iconic musical, it’s been running for years and I’ve always loved it.
I’ve been asked to sing one of the biggest numbers ‘On My Own’, it’s a huge honour! When I first rehearsed with the cast there were ten people listening to me, I was so nervous.
The cast work so hard, I just hope I’ll live up to their standards! ‘On My Own’ is a beautiful song, and so full of emotion, it’s definitely a challenge to perform, I can’t just be a singer up there, I need to really feel it and draw on my acting skills too.
Of course, Pop Goes the Musical supports a very worthy cause, tickets are £80 with £40 from each ticket sold going directly to BBC Children in Need, a charity that makes a real difference to lives of children all over the UK year after year. I’m really proud to be involved with the charity again this year. It’s important for me to do charity work and give back, and BBC Children in Need makes it so much fun!
It’s only one week until the curtain goes up, and my show is the first for Pop Goes the Musical this year so there is a lot of pressure! That said, rehearsals are going really well and I’ve had the song on repeat so I can get to know it inside out. Please do show your support and pick up your tickets from lastminute.com
See you on the night!
Love,
Alexandra
