The media will no doubt trawl through Amy's life to point out the inevitability of her demise whilst crying crocodile tears. I just hope they leave her some dignity and resist getting too judgemental. After all, they're not exactly shining examples of moral rectitude themselves. She was flawed - as we all are. It's called being human. Likewise the other stars who died too soon - 27, if you will - in similar circumstances. To only focus on the negatives might sell papers but it won't prevent this happening again. Nor would Mr Murdoch and his ilk want it to. RIP, Amy.

MD - the red tops will have a field day pulling Amy apart whilst never quite getting round to admitting they were probably part of the poor lassies demise. Fortunately, we'll all be spared the inevitable guff which would have been trawled up by the now defunct News of the World.

#27 couldn't agree more, ST. They might argue that "stars" invite or even court the constant media coverage and so deserve anything they get, good or bad. What they conveniently choose to forget (of course they don't forget - they just try to appeal to the lowest common factor and work it to suit themselves) is that these stars are as vulnerable as the rest of us. Fortunately most of us don't have to read about our misdemeanours anywhere unless they're criminal - who'd care? That some of these people may be not able to cope with the pressures of celebrity seems to be wilfully negated by the media purely on the basis that "they're making money and are successful, so wtf are they complaining about?? And what about the poor example??" Not sure why anyone should expect someone who is in the creative arts to be following any sort of norms, even though following them shouldn't be a problem, either.

I don't think Jimi Hendrix's death is any connection with the others - simple choking whilst asleep - no great troubled life, an accident.

The media is pointing to Amy's troubled life, but that might have nothing to do with her death - we don't know yet.

The temptation to lump 'tortured souls' together in death is almost irresistable but all you can really point to is that in life they probably didn't understand what it took to make them happy.Quite often, their death is simply accidental, they were doubtless not planning on going -no correlation.

Prepare for the dry boak as buckets of mock grief are dished out on twitter.

It reminds of Mariah Carey's infamous comment about the passing of the King Of Jordan.

I can be quite blunt about Amy Winehouse. Yeah sad to see a life end so short but will that now make her an icon forever more in the mould of holly dean monroe et al. I bought her two albums and have to say she had a good voice and eh that was it. The songs didnt really do that much for me and as such dare i say it she was overrated but easy media copy in the mould of pete docherty kerry katona et al. Proven by the way she has swiftly knocked the absolute human catastrophe in norway off the front pages.

What a sad day for her family. I saw her at Barrowlands, great gig.

It would be good if the media could use AW's tragic end as a means of warning vulnerable young folk away from the dangers of drugs.

#30 You're right that it is a travesty that Amy's death has somehow made the Norwegian tragedy today's fish and chip wrapping, but that's the trash news media for you. Always hungry for another story that will keep their readership/ viewing figures up. Most of them couldn't give a toss about the people involved - all they're interested in is reeling in the drama-needy punters and to keep pulling any political and social strings they can get away with. Hopefully, this won't be for much longer and the general public will waken up to the manipulation that has been going on for years - if only when they or their family are affected.
I don't think she wasn't worthy of a mention in the face of a greater tragedy and I've no doubt the "Just Say No!" and "What A Waste" message will be trumpeted high and low - the point is, trash media wouldn't want anyone to listen to that otherwise they wouldn't have anything to fill their whitespace or airtime to those who seem to accept unquestioningly everything they read/ hear (until it affects them).
Meanwhile - the media made a right royal cockup of the reporting on the Norwegian story from the start. They may be wanting to downplay it seeing as most of them, reputable news agencies included, managed to pour some needless fuel onto the fire of prejudice. That the guy who most probably perpetrated the horrific actions was a Norskie who held views similar to those who were only too eager to see it the work of "foreigners" must be uncomfortable to deal with. Makes no difference to the bereaved families who did what or why - it doesn't soften the blow.

She was talented and will never know how good she could have been. Looking forward to hearing this duet she's recorded with tony Bennett for his duets 11 album. There were some superb tracks on the first duets album.

#30 Overrated or not it's sad for someone to have their life reported through the media like Amy. Whether her problems were exacerbated by this attention is open to question but it's symptomatic of media obsession with 'celebrity'. Popularity measured in column inches or followers on Twitter?
