A safe bet is to play the same band but another requester's choice. Everyone's happy. Or just not play them at all as a lesson for us not to be presumptious.

I think this is a great theme - really looking forward to hearing the music on this show. The Byrds, Jayhawks, GP, Gene Clark, tom petty etc. all among my favourite artists so cannot really go wrong for me I would have thought.

#12 It's not his work I don't like - some of it is absolutely sublime. I like nothing better than confessional writing. Something honest and humble in there, however self-promoting it may appear. BUT - there's just a niggle about him that doesn't fit that makes listening to a lot of his stuff challenging. Must be getting him wrong. It's me, not him.

I'm not a huge Haggard fan, but I must watch that movie. I think Jeff Bridges is the finest actor of his generation.

I watched The Red Shoes - never thought to enjoy the ballet, but it was really good and then boom! just as you think it's all going to be a happy ending - well I won't spoil it in case anyone wants it out of Lovefilm after me. These old films, they know how to pack a punch without being all graphic and gritty and explicit.

Not that I'm requesting it you understand on account of the fact I'm trying to beat Scotch's record of four weeks without a song being played. Two days to go. Off to listen again to classics unwrapped.

Haha listening to classics unwrapped and Jamie McDougall called Queen Punk Rock. Almost as funny as Bryan last night playing some weird version of Chris Montez Let's Dance without the Immediately Identifiable Intro.

Have to say though it was a good idea to have an edition of classics Unwrapped VS Get it on. Really good listen.

And there's obviously enough mileage in this alphabet theme thingy to go round again judging by the great suggestions coming in.

Needles and Pins would be great, but for real jangly guitars you need the Byrds - Mr Tambourine Man (which even references them in the chorus) or for something more out of the way whtt about Turn Turn Turn?

Mad Mac, here's an L of an idea:

L = Longshots - the ones you suggest with little or no hope of them getting played.

For L night you would know that if you suggested something unusual it would have a good chance of getting played and that if you suggested the Smiths it would have no chance at all. For instance rather than American Girl, arguably Tom Petty's most famous song, you would have Listen to her Heart, which would almost certainly be enjoyed by the people who suggested AG. This would be a golden opportunity to encourage people broaden their horizons. There's a difference between 'very popular tonight' and 'lots of people suggested it because it's so well-known and there's a good chance it will get played and their name mentioned especially if having chilli for tea.

So - Longshots: either artists we know but their songs must be ones we don't usually hear or artists we haven't heard on GIO.
