An amazing thing happened to me on the cote d'azur last week.
I thought I was being ultra sensible in locking my credit card in a hotel safe in Nice before visiting Monte Carlo for the day, only to find on arrival that Stevie Wonder was playing the casino that night and there were a small handful of tickets going. I was kicking myself cos the loose change wasn't gonna cover it...so what did I do as a last resort. I put 20 euros on zero and guess what. It came up 17. What was the chances of that?

Even worse I found out I'd gone to Nice a week early and left just as the week long jazz festival rolled into town with Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Al Jarreau, Herbie Hancock and a host of other legends this ignoramus hasn't discovered yet. Oh and the house band each day were Earth Wind and Fire.

Even Worser We went to Juan Les Pins. Aye that Juan Les Pins! The one where a carefully designed topless swimsuit gives you an even suntan on your backs and on your legs. Unfortunately Imelda had the wrong swimsuit with her and I had that damn Sarstedt song in ma heid for the next 5 days.

Anyway, off to collect my winnings for Brazil winning the world cup. I take it they did win didn't they?

Senga, my roses are fine now. The deer have fled and instead I have a plague of wasps. They creep in the roof tiles and fall down into the kitchen through the spotlight when you switch it on. Fear not though, the exterminator man is coming tonight.

Hi, all I have not been on much lately (forgot my password among other things.) I was at the Montreux Jazz festival last week and it was superb even if it is such an expensive place to be. Saw the Freddie Mercury statue etc.

Roxy Music played there too and it was great to see Regina Spektor also. She had the tragedy of one of her band members drowning in lake Geneva at Montreux the day before. She was visibly shaken during the performance but she held it together and did an amazing set under such circumstances.

Now for the 'E' day my suggestion would be songs that Brian EEEEEno has been involved in. You could fill a whole show with the artists he has worked with and never play the same band twice:

Roxy Music, U2, Coldplay, James, Talking Heads, Bowie, Genisis, Robert Wyatt, Ultravox, John Cale, Carmel, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Sinead O'Conner to name a few.
