Jim I see you've gone for REM doin First we Take Manhattan. Have you heard Joe Cockers Version. There's not many covers of Lenny songs that can do justice to the original but Cockers Voice is Fantastic. This uptempo version would have you doin 90 down the motorway without even realising it. Superb Drivin Rock.

You simply must play Sinead O'Connor's song 'The Last day Of Our Acquaintance'. It's such a moving story of divorce...starts off soft and hurt and evolves into something portraying emotions of a failed relationship: sorrow, pain and anger and eventually, it seems, acceptance. Very moving...what a singer she is.

It's not one of the usual day-related Beatles songs and it shows how innovative they were. The Chemical Brothers took a lot of inspiration from this track.

For the sampled speech near the start "Today is a new day...". Song still sounds great and I like the sentiment about "...blues and jazz, all of these are just labels - we know that music is music." It can be my wee olive branch after folk taking the hump with me last week.
