Playlist 15 December
I haven’t got a copy of the originalClashsingle, Capital Radio. Or was it an EP ? It was free withcopies of the first Clash LP, from the Spring of1977–Ididn’tbuy the LP until 1979, having listened over the shoulders of my friends before that. No freebies in my copy. So the version of Capital Radio isa re-recorded version(containing original members of the band) which they put out a few years later. Still a rockin’ good demolition of London’sradio station. The dayswhen it was a big deal to get punk rock recordsheard outside your living room.
Also a welcomereturn to the Yacht’sfirst single for Radar Records, which I havedifficultytrackingdown on CD. That’s why there are crackles whichcan beheard by those whoturn the radio up loud.
Clash– Capital Radio
Smiths - Girl Afraid
Yachts– Look Back In Love Not In Anger
Teenage Jesus & The Jerks - I Woke Up Dreaming
Elvis Costello– The Beat

Think you had to send the sticker in to receive a copy of the Capitol Radio 45. He didn't realise until it was way too late that he missed out on a rare punk single. I have yet to tell him that the LP complete with the orginal sticker is now also worth quite a few quid. I should do I know but I still hold a minor grudge for him flogging my ticket to see The Clash in the early 80's to a pal of his who offered a fiver more. And he flogged some of my Thunderbird toys....sniff.
