Starting tonight with the Flamin' Groovies finest four minutes which I first heard on a compilation LP with the uninspired title 'New Wave'. It had a photo of a young man spitting out a mouthful of beer, an early attempt to attract the youth demographic, but we didn't mind as it was extremely difficult to get your hands on actual punk rock records in 1977. Mail order or what the man in Ken's records had on the shelf were your only options, so a "Various Artists" with Richard Hell, The Damned and The Ramones achieved near religious status among my chums for a few weeks. Also tonight, a happy birthday to Suggs. Fifty years old. It happens to us all. The lucky ones, anyway.
