Annie's Anniversary night

Rachel BartonRachel Barton|17:48 UK time, Friday, 10 September 2010

Woweeeee I'm still smiling after an incredible night at Maida Vale last night as part of A Night With Annie Nightingale to celebrate the great lady's 4 decades of broadcasting on BBC Radio 1. We sat down and started planning the night way back in March I think, so to see it all come together was amazing.
We got down to Maida Vale yesterday afternoon while the soundchecks were taking place, that's so the sound engineers can make the artists sound as good as possible on air. Then we had a run through with Huw & Annie to make sure they were both happy with everything we had planned.
Then the night began! And as ever it flew by - 3 hours felt like 3 minutes.
All the artists were incredible - Tinchy Stryder & DC Breaks smashed it, I Blame Coco was great and what a voice! Sub Focus was his usual ace self, Booka Shade was beyond words, having live drums with electronic music just adds so much to the overall sound!

Primal Scream with Paul Weller

The Freestylers & Professor Green stepped up and delivered as ever, as did Fatboy who had put so much thought into his set then to have Primal Scream performing with Paul Weller was so so special, I have to say I had a big lump in my throat! It felt like the night just built and built to a big crescendo to end.

Annie Nightingale and Fatboy Slim

All the interviews were great too - my favourite was Fatboy Slim and Annie telling the story about her lost address book!
And it was a moment when I had a tap on my arm and looked to my left to see Kate Moss standing there who had come down to see her friend Annie on her big night!

Please listen again and check the photos and videos - Annie wanted it to be a party for everyone so please enjoy!
