Annie Nightingale's 40th Anniversary

Rachel BartonRachel Barton|14:10 UK time, Thursday, 9 September 2010

We've had a few artists approach us with special tributes for Annie that you'll be able to hear in our celebration show tonight!

We'd like to share this one from Utah Saints, along with these kind words:

"We were honoured to have had the legend that is Annie Nightingale play our Sugarbeat night twice, and both times were struck by her charisma and the amount of soul she has, which comes across totally in the way she selects and puts tracks together in her sets.

She is part of the musical fabric of the world, playing a huge part in shaping culture -the fact that after 40 years she remains so enthusiastic about music is totally inspirational.

For this short piece we took shows that we had recorded of hers and radio interference as well as some audio of her talking, and spliced it together as a collage with a story to tell - she could be talking about the end of the 60s, punk in the 70s, acid house in the 80s/90s or the eclecticism of now, it doesn't matter, her passion for music shines through - thank you Annie Nightingale!"
