facepaints and petrol stations...

It's Monday.

I got in at 5am this morning after a little adventure to Cambridge where I played the Fez Club last night. Myself, Rachel from the show and our mate Reju came very close to getting stuck in a Cambridge suburb with no petrol at 3am. But we found a station just in the nick of time. Props have to go to Reju who rang directory enquiries and asked 'Can you put me through to someone who can tell me where I am?'. And thank you to the nice lady who directed us to the petrol station.

I've been covering Sara Cox's show over the weekend while she's on holiday. Doing weekend radio is quite different to Thursday nights, it feels like the whole country is listening in and it was exciting on sunday with the lead up to the match. Shame about the dullness of the match though. I'm really enjoying the world cup at the moment, did you see the Portugal V Holland game last night? The drama! The sweat! the passion! the yellow cards!! Brilliant.

Saturday night I had a face paints party in my house. Reju has a dark past, which includes being an accomplished face painter and she brought some books so everyone could choose an idea. I had a big butterfly on my face, but there was all sorts of fantastic creations, Adam Ant, a Flava Flav clock face, a tiger, Spiderman, a masked beauty, Ziggy Stardust and a member of Kiss where all hanging out in my flat.. it was alot of fun.

So tonight and until Thursday myself and Nihal are covering for Zane's show. Then on Thursday Tayo is taking over my show for a night. He'll be doing his own minimix so you can see what he's all about musically...

Did you all have good weekends? Any good festivals or parties?

    Hello,

Just listening back to your show on the internet whilst i do my tedious work data matching and its banging, the time is flying by!
The opening Bob Marley track may well have influenced Fatboy as he played it during his rock ness set which i must say was absolutely amazing bar the eight hour car ride from bristol to get there!
Off to oxford this weekend for another musical fix at the Cowley road Carnival.
Top Show look forwards to the next one.

Annie, what's happening with the new schedule for radio 1? I see you're doing two shows - what are they going to be like? Anyone else sorry to see the current format go?
