Aborist feat Kim Deal – Twisted Arrow

They Say: "Twisted Arrow is one of our more straight-forward numbers. The repetitive (violin) refrain is a pretty standard idea; it should act as a ballast, something you can keep returning to and the listener can latch onto; More News From Nowhere (Nick Cave), Ed is Dead (Pixies) [ahem].

The Magnolia Electric Co album Sojourner has a section around the middle of songs with a very similar mood and tempo. They also play heavily on driving as a metaphor or setting for detachment and loneliness that I liked. After the bones of the song were recorded Ben McAuley (drummer, producer) added subtle extras such as the percussive chirp from the wooden blocks that drives the song along. Then all we needed was a unique harmony to tie it all together…"

We Say: "What a wonderful collaboration this is between Belfast songsmith Mark McCambridge and American vocalist extraordinaire Kim Deal of Pixies & The Breeders fame. ‘Twisted Arrow’ makes you want to take time out from everything around you, to immerse yourself fully in this soulful musical tapestry.”
