This week, Niamh Hegarty joined Rigsy and Stu to discuss new some tunes.
And So I Watch You From Afar – People Not Sleeping
Niamh: “I think they’ve absolutely nailed it with this album and this track is an absolute highlight for me.”
Ellll – Runnel
Niamh: “This is her brand new track…Ellll is a regular feature at Triskel Arts Centre in Cork as her show is so mesmerising live. I really love this track as it’s very different and quite catchy…it’s one of those ones you want to revisit time and time again.”
Noel O’Brien – Yet To Come
Stu: “He’s twenty one, he’s from Co. Tipperary. He cites people like John Martyn, Elliot Smith and Nick Drake and you can hear that loud and clear.”
Apocalypse – Swank Ment-Tal
Niamh: “I saw them live in Cork and they were just incredible…they’re just so good. Their freestyle is just flawless and their lyrics are so insightful for such a young duo. They kind of remind me of A Tribe Called Quest.”
Tandem Felix – Union St. Blues
Niamh: “I just love this track…this is from their new EP called ‘Comma.’ They’ve just progressed so much with this release …I think there’s hints of Midlake at times in this track, and I don’t think they’d be out of place touring with Villagers.”
HOW – Coney Island
Rigsy: “A four piece from Armagh launching their debut album on Saturday May 23rd on the Belfast Barge. This for me is a big big step up…big hook on this track.”
