
Organiser, Kris Platt from Belfast band More than Conquerors said “Auntie Annie's was a place for us to go to learn how to be a band and it was a place where Belfast could come and watch. We've played some of our favourite shows and we've seen some of our favourite shows in Annie's. RIP.”
Among the acts due to play tonight alongside More than Conquerors are Wonder Villains and David C Clements. PigsAsPeople, Baby Godzilla and Stop all the Clocks will also appear.
VerseChorusVerse and The 1930s will perform downstairs on an acoustic stage.
There has been much reaction online with twitter users adopting the hashtag #auntieanecdotes to collate their memories of the venue, which gave an early platform to many emerging talents from Northern Ireland.
A fixture of the NI music scene since 1999, Auntie Annie’s is due to close this Friday at 4pm after administrators were unable to find a buyer for the venue.
