Slomatics - Ulysses my Father

They say:
“It was a really interesting experience for us to try to and write a song that fitted on one side of a 7" and still end up with something that represented the sound of the band. I think we got there in the end but it's amazing how quickly 4 1/2 minutes can fly in when you play at our pace!

We recorded our track over at Skyhammer studios in Liverpool. It was our first time recording outside Northern Ireland. The studio is owned by a very old friend (Jon Davis, guitarist of Conan) and the engineer is Chris Fielding who plays bass in Conan (we did a split with his old band maybe 6 years ago, so another old friend). Even though the surroundings were unfamiliar we felt in very safe hands and as expected the session was a really positive experience, we even coaxed both Jon and Chris into guesting on the track.”

We say: “They’re a unique prospect - in Northern Ireland at least - a bass driven doom metal band with a proper following and genuine critical acclaim. 'Ulysses my Father' illustrates why that is - though as always with this lot, don’t get to focused on how dark things are - as there’s always a real grove in their too.”

Slomatics will play Voodoo, Belfast on Friday 30th January with Hornets and Tusks.
