Sorcha Richardson - Petrol Station

She says: “I started writing Petrol Station on the first hot day in New York after a really brutal winter. I was walking home from a friend’s old place in Brooklyn late one night and it started raining - one of those really heavy summer storms. Three petrol stations line the street where they lived and always kept their lights on, so I would use this as my landmark when I was in that neighbourhood. I started writing the lyrics in my head as I walked home, and by the time I got to my apartment, I had the whole first verse written. I don't like to explain my lyrics too much but ultimately it’s a song about friendship.”

We say: “This is everything we'd expect from a Niall Byrne recommendation - weird and wonderful, quirky and unique. It's also notably gentle, the type of low-key electro pop designed for headphones and smiling faces.”
