The Wood Burning Savages - This House
They say: “This is a breakup track. It's about remembering why you loved someone; the places you found yourselves in and the memories you both shared. It's about remembering the first signs of cracks and distance before a relationship implodes. When we play it live, it's become a ritual that Paul will ask the audience to hug someone they're there with that they love, or even a complete stranger. People have a lot of love to give that they don't allow themselves to sometimes and this track tries covertly to coax that out of people. Echo & The Bunnymen, Orange Juice and Wilco come to mind when we were writing the music but the lyrics were spun from a desire to sound like a conversation between a couple trying to figure out how things went south.”
We say: “Noisy, lyrically captivating, and begging to be heard live, This House is the exact ‘all kinds of awesome’ you would expect from the NI alt-rock almost-veterans. It’s been oddly quiet from the ruckus that is The Wood Burning Savages of late, but when it comes to these four Derry~Londonderry boys - when it rains, it pours – and as rumours of “exciting news” drift from their direction, we are happy to draught it out for the WBS thunderstorm any day.”
