A noisy venue is hard to cut through at the best of times, so I don't pity Ex-Isles beginning their performance with a slow and quiet combination of piano and voice. Thankfully the awkward start lets up as the band show a bit of their craft, in both the subtle, quiet moments and the almost classical, piano driven crescendos.
Playing from their debut album including the likes of 'Arrival', the band have a unique sound. A distinct style of singing and turn of phrase lends their music to the qualities of a musical.
