CC Brez – The Lick
Thursday 25th February 2016
They Say: "The track was inspired by Roy Hargrove's brass lines. So I wanted to mix a modern jazz feel with a Bobby Caldwell 70's blue eyed soul production. Lyrically it's an intimate look at a romantic relationship!”
We say: “It’s about time we started to enjoy some Republic of Loose spinoffs - the Dublin band remain one of the finest - and certainly the funkiest - Irish act of the last decade. Here to represent while the ‘Loose remain dormant is guitarist Cormac ‘Brez’ Breslin. His debut album is - as we might expect - beautifully unpredictable and impossible to summarise with one mere sound bite. But we’ll try - this is every corner of every dancefloor entertained.”
‘The Lick’ is from CC Brez’s debut solo album ‘The Nightfall’ which is released on 27th February 2016. He plays Whelans, Dublin the same night.
