This week, Rigsy was joined by Niall Byrne to chat about some of their favourite new music.
Jape – Séance of Light
Niall: “Sounds really interesting…very electronically charged.”
The Lost Brothers – Little Angel
Niall: “It’s just a perfect encapsulation of…the kind of December winter vibe.”
Rigsy: “Absolutely gorgeous, they’ve knocked it out the park. This is another one you’d play every single year.”
Aspen Pales – Blue
Rigsy: I think this is just lovely, great unique vocal, very dreamy, well thought out piece of music, kind of promising stuff for the record.”
God Knows + MyNameIsJohn – Standard
Niall: “For me I did my top Irish albums last week and this was number one. Yeah, it’s just something fresh and something different. This would be my number one of this year.”
Seneron – Freak Show
Rigsy: “I don’t think they’re trying to be clever or obtuse when they’re making this type of music, just big hooks and riffs and I admire them for that.”
All We Are – I Wear You
Niall: “There is an Irish connection; the drummer’s from Cork. It’s an international affair again; the singer’s from Norway and the guitarist’s from Brazil and they’re newly signed to Domino Records. They’re a really interesting band. I think you’re going to see a lot of them next year. I think after seeing them, they might be my new favourite band.”
Speed of Snakes – Speed of Snakes
Niall: “It’s sci-fi electro rock, I guess. I think they’re going to have an album very soon - so yeah it’s an interesting concept.”
