Delorentos have won the 2012 Meteor Choice Music Prize. the Dublin based indie outfit were handed the award at a ceremony last night at Vicar St.
The four piece band fought off competition from the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Julie Feeney and Mumblin' Deaf Ro to gain the prize, which is awarded each year to the best Irish album, as judged by a panel of music industry insiders.
Judges decided that Delorentos 2012 album 'Little Sparks' was the winner of the prize which includes a ten thousand Euro cheque.
The award for Meteor Choice Music Prize Song of the Year went to Gavin James for his track 'Say Hello'
Previous winners include Divine Comedy, Two Door Cinema Club and Jape.
