The ATL team often resemble a pack of ravenous wolves, sniffing the scent and hunting their New Band quarry until, finally, the unsuspecting musical prey succumbs to their hungry ear-fangs. Its the cirlce of life. Hakuna Matata.
This week's predator is Niamh Hegarty, native of Cork, now adpoted into the Belfast pack. Favouring a southern flavour, she brings us three offerings to leave in a heap at your doorstep.

The Vincents
Although only in existence a few months, The Vincent(s) have been packing venues around the country and have played with the likes of September Girls and The Altered Hours. The Vincent (s) in a nutshell are quite like Squarehead (Popical Island) but with darker undertones. Their debut single ‘Asked Her to Dance’ is a total treat. No Belfast show has been announced yet but you can catch them next at the Roisin Dubh in Galway on the 7th February.
The Yips
The Yips are an up and coming new act from Dublin. They met at the reputable BIM college of music, studying under the likes of Cathy Davey. They have a female drummer and are also female fronted. Live, they exude confidence beyond their years and kind of have a No Doubt vibe going on. They’re currently taking a break from live shows to write their debut album.
The Lie Ins
The Lie Ins are a brand new Dublin duo featuring members of Squarehead and Groom. Signed toPopical Island, their debut EP ‘Death to Lie-Ins’ is available for free on their bandcamp. The Dublin launch took place last Saturday night with support from Cave Ghosts. Their sound has classic punk sensibilities and kind of reminds me of The Stooges in parts. Immense energy onstage despite being just a two-piece, you can find out more about them at their Bandcamp.
