Lives – Down by the Sea

They Say: "'Down By The Sea' was the first studio recording we did properly as a band. Lyrically it’s loosely written from the point of view of being a teenager and all the weird experiences at that period when things both scare and invigorate you in equal measure! Musically it evolved from a kind of lo-fi psychedelic jam into the song it is now.

Before we went to record we spent months writing and honing the different sounds and parts of the track. It was exciting to hear it come to life in the studio and we really enjoyed playing around with it, changing different bits, adding textures and layers.

Declan Legge did a superb job with the production of the track, both in his recording and in terms of pointing us in the right direction the song should go to make it better."

We Say: "Jangly rock and roll with attitude, angst and a distinctive sound – ‘Lives’ put Ballynahinch firmly on the music map. With notes of Muse and regretful lyrics in ‘Down by the Sea’ we look forward to their next release."
