Music blogger Niall Byrne (Nialler9) joined Rigsy down the line from Dublin to chat about new tracks, upcoming gigs, and Niall’s highlights from last weekend’s Hard Working Class Heroes Festival.
Rocstrong – Limits
Rigsy: “This is just weird and wonderful… what an exciting prospect.”
Niall: “It very much has his roots… African roots there, that kind of high life guitar and arrangement… definitely one to watch I’d say.”
Neal Martin Hughes – The Program
Rigsy: ““We do have a tradition of singers in old bands making it as solo artists in a massive, massive way… promising stuff from Neal.”
Princess - Neverlook
Niall: “They were one of these bands that appeared out of nowhere for me… they’re kind of hazy indie rock. Remind me a lot of Real Estate.”
Rebecca Collins – The Climb
Rigsy: “A likeable amount of drama in this track.”
Edward F Butler – Running from Fears
Niall: “What was interesting about this song for me is that it starts one way and it goes somewhere you’re not really expecting when you first listen to it. I really like his vocal, both in delivery and in tone…it’s unpredictable.”
Rigsy: “His voice lends itself to some tweaking, it’s a very remixable tone he has. Some very interesting stuff.”
Planet Parade – You’ll Be Sorry
Niall: “I actually saw these guys twice in the last week. They have completely changed their sound in lots of ways. I was really impressed by their live shows... There was just a real craft to what they were doing. I’m very excited about what they’re gonna do in the future.”
