Blogger, DJ and general new music fiend Niall Byrne (aka Nialler9) joined Rigsy live down the line from Dublin on monday to talk all things new music. And here's what they discussed:

*****************************

Ships - Space Inside

Niall - “Its one of my favourite Irish songs in a long time…it’ll make you a disciple of the disco funk”

Rigsy – “It’s got the sort of Thriller baseline, the Beverly Hill Cops vibe…its just so over the top and its brilliant”

Ryan Vail - Grow

Niall – “There’s a very weighty lyrical content to this as well as being a very good tune”.

Rigsy – “Ryan is just played to death on this show”.

Queer Giraffes - 50 Flights of Stairs

Rigsy – “Very kind of intense vibes and very nicely presented and produced stuff”

Niall – “I had not heard Queer Giraffes before, and judging from the name I wouldn’t have expected that kind of sound.”

The Twenty - Have You Seen Her?

Rigsy – “Just an absolutely massive hook…with every listen it just grows on you”

Niall – “It was interesting and definitely sounds like it had the spirit of that era [70s] in it”

Fight Like Apes - Crouching Bees

Rigsy – “This is the official return of Fight Like Apes”

Niall – “New EP out in May, in typically sardonic Fight Like Apes style its called ‘Wigfield Sex Tape’”.

Talos - Tethered Bones

Rigsy – “Sounds absolutely sublime”

Niall - “I’ve very excited about what he [Ian Ring of Young Wonder] does…it seems to me he represents a new generation of producers who’s very versatile”.

Cornerboy Muzik – Pull Up

Niall - “He’s a rap producer from Cork…he’s already produced beats for big American rappers like Young Thug, Bun B, Fat Trel”

Blaze - Make It Work

Rigsy – “great flow – kinda Angel Haze-esque delivery, kinda Kenrick Lamar vibes in there as well, very very dark, decent lyrics in there as well”
