Thomas Dreyfus - Sometimes In The Desert
He Says: “Sometimes In The Desert is taken from my debut album 'Nick Will Cave My Head In'. While I describe the album as acoustic noir/folk, this track (believe it or not) comes from the less dark end of the spectrum both lyrically and musically, and is probably about as upbeat and (instantly?) accessible as the record gets. This may be stretching it a bit, but the guitar solo section nearly sounds surf-pop-with-a-Spanish-twist to me... In terms of influences I find this track harder to pin down, but in general I'd say Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave (the clue is in the album title), Mark Kozelek and Tim Buckley.”
We Say: “A highlight among highlights on a curious debut record, this one is raw, engaging and very sing-able folk-noir made for the camp fire.”
