KEVIN HERM CONNOLLY – SHOTGUN

Steven: “Stepping out under his own name with his own kind of creative vision… it really really works for me… a beautiful start, a beautiful middle and a very beautiful ending.”

DENZIL AKA – KNOCKS

Rigsy: “Very, very catchy stuff…almost laid back kind of stoner rock.”

Steven: “I kind of like that thing where a band sort of …push forward that messy kind of sloppy sound – like we really don’t really care about this – but you can tell they actually do care ‘cause that’s a pretty catchy tune.”

THE ACADEMIC – BEAR CLAWS

Rigsy: This is a very brand-able, kind of sellable prospect not to sound like a band manager, it’s a great tune…I could see why things might start to happen for a band like this.”

Steven: “It just radiates a kind of confidence and the first second I heard it, I thought I like this… it just sounds great, the warmth of those guitars in particular, just instantly hooks you in.”

NOCTURNAL TRIP – COSMIC SLOTH

Steven: “A surging, surging, sludgy heavy sound to it… As an opening statement I think it shows they’ve got real promise…I think these guys will do very very well.”

WARRIORS OF THE DYSTOTHEQUE – ATOM VIBE

Steven: “I just love this… It’s got that sort of smoky Noir, laid back, night club kind of feel in the classic sense – you think of detectives in Los Angeles and femme fatales.”

LE CAROUSEL – DESTROY US

Rigsy: “So this is a guy called Phil Kieran who’s been responsible for some incredible massive records over the years …and then Le Carousel just shows another string to his bow.”

Steven: “A kind of carousel kaleidoscopic sound to it , very colourful… you just want to immerse yourself.”

JACK HART – IN THIS WORLD

Rigsy: “I do love this form of sort of liquid Drum and Bass… big hooks to it…great, great track.”

HOW – RUFIO

Steven: “I like what they’re doing this with this …It’s that kind of anthemic post post punk sort of sound…this is bursting with hooks and I like that.”

ATHLETICS – YOU DON’T GET IT

Steven: It just leaped out – I mean you can hear the polish, you can hear the craft of this…this is that kind of classic pop punk sound that could be so successful if it gets pushed in the right direction.”

SCOTT ANDERSON- COME ON, MAN

Rigsy: A really curious background to this… he’s in AquaTramp… he’s just taken kind of straight up blues rock and roll, and just completely re-invented it and reproduced it - so he’s using a template created by his band to make his own music as a producer – it’s quite a neat little idea.”

Steven: “It really stayed with me…it’s strange but it’s interesting.”
