Rigsy catches up with Niamh Hegarty to chat about some of their favourite new tracks for this week’s New Tune Disco.

Shookra – Woman

Niamh – “The fact they’re so confident as a live unit definitely comes across in this record. Their front woman Sinita has an unreal voice… This record is just so ridiculously catchy.”

Speed of Snakes – Backbone of Night

Niamh – “I love this track… It’s like the theme tune from Night Rider meets like early nine inch nails… Super Irish super group”

Rigsy – “It’s pretty kind of creepy, in a good way”

Plague Artists - Go

Rigsy – “They are more pop’y than they let on, which is a good thing in my books. This packs a punch, big hooks, nice and crunchy guitar.”

Adebishi Shank – Big Unit

Niamh – “It is such a monsterous sound.. monsterous in a good way, as in just massive”

Conor Phillips – Wake Up

Rigsy – “This kind of reminds me of Gomez… the kind of deliberately lose production style is a nice reminder of that band.”

Slow Skies – Fade Away

Niamh – “I think massive things are on the horizon for this group. I just love this track.”

Rigsy – “This is absolutely lovely.”

Spies - Yearner

Niamh – “One of my favourite Irish bands. Spies never fail to excite or exceed previous releases in my opinion.”

Rigsy – “I enjoyed Spies at Electric Picnic… their music suggests a maturity and that they’ve looked into the distance depths of time… and then in between songs they were just so grateful of all the people that came to see them, they were really really sweet.”

Catherine Hatt - Green Shoes

Rigsy – “Catherine Hatt is weird and wonderful… Whether you like this type of thing or not it is certainly very engaging, you will feel something.”

Niamh – “I actually really like it, I love her voice.”
