Winter Aid – The Night is an Ocean
Monday 11th April, 2017
They say: " This song came out of a few difficult weeks, and I think you can hear that. It was the first song really finished as part of the album sessions, so I have a lot of affection for it! Both the music and lyrics came very quickly, which is pretty unusual for me. It has some of my favourite lines from the album. There’s a lot in there about how you can be stuck with what’s in your own head, and how someone else can get you past it. The lyrics swing wildly between homespun and overwrought scenes, but in the end all is calm and as it should be."
We say: “The whole album is a treat - but ‘The Night is an Ocean’ made it onto the show as it best captures the subtle majesty of Winter Aid. Somehow sounding equally slick and lo-fi, panoramic and cosy, Dubliner Shane Culloty has created something beautiful - for headphones and quiet contemplation.”
‘The Night is an Ocean’ is the first single to be taken from the debut album ‘The Murmur of the Land’ - by Dublin based artist Winter Aid - AKA Shane Culloty and is officially released on 28th April 2017.
