Hounds of Alaska - Hey! Matador’

They say – “This song is massively influenced by my love of The Smashing Pumpkins, especially their track Drown. I wrote it in around ten minutes after listening to that song. Hey! Matador is about a sense of panic, dampened expectation and isolation. 'The Matador' is the higher power to whom I'm praying not to abandon me in my hour of need. You could say the song caught me at a low point.”

We say – “Just like his background (born in Northern Ireland to a Norwegian mother, raised in Japan before relocating to England), Edward Cairns of Hounds of Alaska finds his musical references all over the place. The last track we played on ATL seemed to reference EDM monsters Calvin Harris and Avicii. This one is jangly indie-pop. Both were awesome. May he never settle down.”
