Hiva Oa - Seskinore

Monday 26th September, 2016

They Say: “There are many recurring themes throughout the EP [mkII (part 1)]. Although Seskinore embraces the EP’s central themes of fear, loneliness, isolation, this track specifically deals with the uncertainty, abandonment and the sense of awakening following a return to our home country after many years away.

Not just a return to our native country and all the powerful emotions that result of leaving those behind, but also the personal challenges of leaving city life behind for the first time, in place of the rural countryside.

The sense of isolation one can feel, yet the knowledge that the correct decision was made following the return of a sharp, renewed focus.”

We Say: “Dormant for far too long, it’s wonderful to have Hiva Oa alive and kicking, focused and unleashing incredibly accomplished works.

And yes - ‘works’ is the correct term. Calling them ‘songs’ or ‘tracks’ seems to undersell what it is that they do.”

After a hiatus, Hiva Oa are back with brand new EP, 'mkII (part1)', available to buy now.

As often as possible Across the Line aims to bring you a great new, recent or interesting track each day, Monday to Friday. To get your new music to Across the Line send it via the BBC Introducing Uploader.
