Charlotte Dryden of Oh Yeah Music Centre and Chris McConaghy - Our Krypton Son - launch the Sound of Belfast 2017 programme.

The 2017 Sound Of Belfast festival has been launched, returning for its fourth year from November 2nd - 11th.

Comprised of a series of live gigs, talks, awards, conferences and music industry days and co-ordinated by the Oh Yeah Music Centre, the ten-day festival will take place across a variety of Belfast venues.

Over sixty acts are set to perform, with sets from Ricky Warwick, The Bonnevilles, Sister Ghost, Strange New Places, Leah McFall, Callum Stewart, Rory Nellis, Civil Simian, Burning Codes, No Oil Paintings, ROE, Wood Burning Savages, Mongol Gentlemen’s Club, The Tragedy Of Dr Hannigan, Empty Lungs and many more.

Charlotte Dryden of Oh Yeah says:

“Sound of Belfast is about turning the spotlight up on local music. Belfast has an abundance of talent and there are gigs throughout the year, we want to promote and celebrate that.

Our homegrown talent includes bands fresh out of their first practice through to internationally celebrated names. It’s a great opportunity to fully focus and check out new music, whet the appetite and return for more once you’ve been introduced and even reintroduced”.

Sound of Belfast rounds off with the Northern Ireland Music Prize ceremony, taking place in the Mandela Hall on November 11th. This includes the presentation of an Oh Yeah Legend Award to guitarist Vivian Campbell (best known for his work with Sweet Savage, Dio, Def Leppard and current band Last In Line). A full live set with Last In Line will close the evening, which also features performances from three of this year’s NI Music Prize nominees – Arborist, Joshua Burnside and Robocobra Quartet.
