Silences – Before Ten
Friday 13th January, 2017
They say:“'Before Ten' was written very differently in comparison to other Silences' tracks. It began as a four chord loop and it stayed that way. The verse / bridge / chorus aren't defined by chord changes rather by the textures and instrumentation. It was the first song I (Conchúr White) have recorded for Silences and it was nice to collaborate with someone as experienced and involved with our music as Declan Legge. We weren't entirely sure what to do with the track as it didn't stand out as a single. Releasing it as a free download to precede our upcoming release in March seemed like a good option. It was nice to put something out without having to worry about deadlines and release strategies etc. I'm happy with the response to it thus far.”
We say: “Brooding in tone, with gentle electronic touches, ‘Before Ten’ is a cool, crisp, laid back offering from Armagh’s Silences. With economic instrumentation and Conchur White's recognisable dreamlike vocal delivery, it’s a catchy track and one that rewards multiple listens. That it 'didn't stand out' as a single only leaves us looking forward - even more - to what the band might deliver in 2017!”
‘Before Ten’ was released as a free download earlier this month. The band play SXSW in Austin, Texas in March.
