The Wood Burning Savages – Hometown Pride & Lather, Rinse, Repeat
Tuesday 21st February, 2017
They say: “‘Hometown Pride’ is a track for anyone who looks around and sees their hometown falling apart, anyone who sees a mass exodus from what's left of its empty shop lined streets and disenchanted and disenfranchised estates. It's a track about the poverty cycle people find themselves in through no fault of their own. It's a song about young people being forced to leave their hometown after becoming caught up in something nefarious.
‘Lather, Rinse, Repeat’ is a song with fear, compulsion and paranoia at its core. It's centred around someone battling with schizophrenia and OCD and feeling guilt for having to explain their actions constantly.”
We say: “Two excellent songs from their live session for ATL, you’d never think that ‘Hometown Pride’ was written that morning! Sometimes you find when there are issues close to your heart it’s very easy to write about them and it’s very clear that’s the case here with ‘Hometown Pride’.
Paul’s magnificent voice carries a lot of emotion throughout the track and sustains it into ‘Lather, Rinse, Repeat’, where their fast paced harmonies showcase how much this band rocks, plain and simple.”
