Edward F Butler - Bank Heist Debut
They Say: "The track was written when I was 18 or maybe younger, but it's sort of mutated/evolved into a completely different creature. When I wrote it I was a fan boy for bands like Arcade Fire, The Dears and Patrick Watson, I dreamt of running away to Montreal, leaving rural Norfolk behind. It was really piano based, I demoed it loads of times with various producers and tried playing it in H:OWL, but it was only when Koichi Samuels and I jammed it out that it transformed in to this electronic beast. I asked Matt Duke who is mine and Katherine Phillipa's producer to mix it and do his magic on it. He stripped it back from a big bombastic piano led trumpet, horns, blaring ballad in to what it is.
It's not a break up song... It's a fix up look sharp, buck up, shut up, get on with living!...sort of song. It's about evaluating your life and the choices you've made, in other words it's not a true story, I have never witnessed a bank robbery".
We Say: "Soulful and futuristic in equal measures, Edward F Butler’s haunting vocal and some very detailed production have made for a dark and powerful few minutes, built for headphones and a dark room".
