Ryan Vail - Wounds

Wednesday 17th February 2016

He Says: “Wounds is the single from my debut album ‘For Every Silence’ which I composed mainly using a 90 year old piano I inherited from my wife’s father. I explored the link between classical and electronic music on the album, with some tracks being totally organic, some a mixture and some fully electronic.

This particular track is about a piano who wants to be played but is ignored in his own room. The previous owner was a radio enthusiast, so this explains the radio sample. It’s one of the most electronic tracks on the album.”

We say:  “It’s been way too long await for the debut album from Ryan Vail - who’s been teasing with greatness for a number of years. ‘Wounds’ is the first track we know for sure will be on that record - and it’s a gloriously exciting indication of what’s to come. Delicate, smoky and beautifully presented, it’s a deeply personal track designed for good headphones and a darkened room.”

The debut album by Irish composer and musician Ryan Vail ‘For Every Silence’ is available to pre-order on PledgeMusic. Ryan plays Output Belfast on Thursday 18th February 2016.
