Covid 19 has had massive impact on the music industry, but in no way has it dampened the spirits of our musicians.

Artists are coming together (while staying apart) in creative ways, sharing never before released recordings, fundraising for local charities, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, your social media will be full of musicians and bands, live streaming performances online. We’ve been welcomed into their living rooms, bedrooms, and home studios.

Music is bringing people together and it is a force for good, at a time when we must physically be apart. Derry band, Lavengro, have done just that. The five piece, made up of Gareth Borrow, Dave Healy, Emmet McDaid, Jack Kyle and James Healy, have used their time in lockdown to record a cover of ‘Hero’ by Enrique Iglesias, to raise money for vital PPE equipment for health care workers, across the UK and Ireland (all social distancing in their own homes).

With a thoughtful message on Facebook, asking people to share their photos and messages of thanks, to healthcare workers, the band have raised £1395, in just a matter of days.
