“If Juventus want to train at a Division Three ground... They can train in my back garden.”

After last night’s loss to West Brom at Anfield, Liverpool fans made their feelings clear and their centre-back, Daniel Agger was one of the players criticised for his performance...

The Dane came straight out and held his hands up - brutal honesty.

Just try telling Wayne Rooney that! The Manchester United star has been branded a ‘hooligan’ and a ‘demon’ by Spanish sports paper ‘Marca’. All just adding fuel to tomorrow’s eagerly awaited clash between Real Madrid and Manchester United.

To say that Bayern Munich are running away with the Bundesliga would be a huge understatement. They’ve only lost one game and are 15 points clear of Borussia Dortmund. It’s so easy...

Wayne Rooney revealed on Twitter last night that he pays the monthly fee for the Manchester United TV service, which amused new signing Wilfried Zaha....

But it didn’t take long before Rooney put him in his place.

A heartbreaker. Your team are drawing 1-1 and in the last minute you pull off a brilliant acrobatic scissor-kick finish, only for it to be disallowed as the referee judges the ball went out of play.

It can only happen to one man.

Mansfield Town chairman, John Radford has found a new incentive to get results out of manager Paul Cox - giving him a supercar win bonus. The Stags chairman spoke to Robbie and Mark on 606 on Saturday to explain how the manager of his club drove home from the One Call Stadium on Saturday night with his 'old' Aston Martin...

There was no complaints from the manager, who wasn't sure if he'd still be driving it Monday morning!

Football Focus recently went to meet the Radford's ahead of their third round FA Cup tie with Liverpool.

Seeing two national sides meet and trade pennants is a tradition before an international football match, but when Turkey and Czech Republic met recently they decided to trade something else...

We’re wondering where these are going to go?
image descriptionIt's a thumbs up from ‘Zolly’

Spirits were lifted at West Brom today with a return to the training ground for a player who's been out injured. Ben Foster tweeted it earlier calling him the nicest man in football.

But who is ‘Zolly’?

The Manchester United and England star is already looking past his playing days into a career in the media. He interviewed Everton’s Leighton Baines and Leon Osman…

On a train. Maybe he’ll be in the 606 hotseat one day?

With the East Midland’s side hiring and firing of managers being heavily questioned, the last thing the club wanted was for this image to surface on the internet…

Via Off The Post.

There can’t be many prouder moments for a parent than seeing their son score for their country. So when Tom Ince scored twice for the under-21’s on Tuesday night…

His Dad and former England international, Paul thought he’d wait until his son scores for the senior side.
image descriptionDemba Ba’s off to Milan

Don’t worry Chelsea fans he’s not joining Mario Balotelli. He’s gone over to get a face mask for the broken nose he suffered against former club, Newcastle last weekend.

He also treated us to this picture of him on the plane, to prove his nose isn’t that bad.

image descriptionIf you’re a goalkeeper, it helps if you can catch a ball!

We’ve seen some bad goalkeeping howlers, but this has to be up there with the very worst we’ve seen. Do you think it’s terrible hand-eye-coordination or poor footwork from Egyptian, Amir Tawfik?

Two skills that are very important for a goalkeeper…
image descriptionAguero-esq

After the Argentine’s acute angle finish against Liverpool at the weekend, many have been reminiscing over tight angle finishes. Windes’ Vikings Paul Cliff scored four goals in a recent 5-0 win….

Including this one from a near-impossible angle. Aguero, eat your heart out.

Cristiano Ronaldo is followed around the world with cries of “Messi, Messi!”. But now he’s even started getting it in his own country.

This is how he was welcomed to Portugal for international duty.

The younger of the Ferdinand brothers, Anton completed a loan move to Turkish side Bursaspor in the January transfer window. You can tell he’s missing England and especially his brother, Rio, as he tweeted numerous pictures of the two this afternoon…

Peter Odemwingie’s transfer deadline day antics left us baffled and with more questions than answers. Whilst the situation may not have impressed West Brom’s staff and fans, there’s no doubt it’s done wonders for dressing room banter.

He must have seen this coming....

image descriptionDavies loses ‘hard man’ image

There’s been many a tough English centre half over the years who have left the field with their head bandaged up, playing through the pain barrier. So when Curtis Davies cut his finger, you’d expect him to man up and shrug it off.

My 606 Saturday debut

Blog comments are currently unavailable. Find out more.

Post categories:

Dan Walker|18:00 UK time, Monday, 4 February 2013

I enjoyed my Saturday 606 debut over the weekend. I've listened to the show for years so to sit in the hot seat - even alongside Robbie Savage - was a real pleasure.

Thanks to all those who listened, texted & tweeted - particularly on the hot topic of Hartley and Poole scoring for Hartlepool. We asked for your other possible name suggestions and you didn't disappoint. We got a massive response and, even though Robbie seemed confused by much of the concept, there were some great suggestions...

John Barnes & Rob Lee

Sanchez Watt & Mark Forde

Joe Cole & James Chester

Demba Ba & Julio Arca

Dean Ashton & David Villa

Franz Carr & John Lyall

Richard Dunne & Joey Barton

Ashley Cole, Marvell Wynne & Habib Beye

John Carew & Graham Alexander

Mark Bright, Nando, Bruno Vale, Marcus Bean

5 Live's very own Conor McNamara even got involved: Gordon McQueen, Park Ji Sung & Nile Ranger.

Some of you came up with inventive uses of Danny Shittu but we had to ban all those. Thanks again for listening and hopefully see you soon. Can you think of anymore? Just comment below!

Dan
