In the New Year we are putting together a very special 606 where we look at one of the highlights of the football calendar and ask you for your memories of it – FA Cup Third Round weekend.
It’s a time of year where everyone has a story, but they are all so personal. Lists are made of the biggest shocks in the Third Round – like when Hereford beat Newcastle – but the best stories are those of heroism trying to get to grounds you’ve never been to before in awful January conditions, seeing the local boy put his team into the Fourth Round, or seeing your team cause a shock, but maybe not one of those which always hit the headlines.
Let us know what your FA Cup Third Round Memories are by Tweeting #606FACup, leave a comment on this blog or our Facebook page, e-mail us or even record the message and send us a link.
We want your stories of disaster, success, ecstasy, heroism and being stuck at a family doo when your side enjoyed their greatest ever moment.
We asked Robbie Savage what he remembered of Third Round Weekend, and he said: “I’ve been the underdog in the FA Cup Third Round when I played for Crewe – and never really caused an upset – and I was favourite at Blackburn, Birmingham, Leicester and wasn’t involved in shock, until the Quarter Final when we lost to Wycombe.”
You can do better – and if you have any memories of FA Cup Third Round which involve Robbie, we want to hear those too.
Newcastle fan, Chris called us on Saturday to speak to Jason and Mark about Demba Ba’s future on Tyneside. Hear the word, or words he’s been hearing on the street.
