Thousands of runners and cyclists took part in the Wolverhampton City Marathon. Almost tropical weather saw West Park bathed in sunshine, but provided difficult conditions for competitiors.
The cycle race was the first to start, with the Marathon, Half Marathon and relay races beginning shortly afterwards.
Racers began in West Park - completing a circuit of the city (two for the full Marathon) and surrounding area, before returning to the park for the finish
The overall winner of the Marathon was Paul Rogers from Tipton Harriers in a time of just over 2 hours and 41 minutes. The mens Half Marathon was won by his clubmate Mark Farnell, who is going on to compete in the Paralympics in Athens. The womens Half Marathon was won by Lorranie Hardy from the Shropshire Shufflers.
