The American Dream is described as an idea held by many that through hard work, courage and determination, prosperity can be achieved. But is this a worthwhile dream? Omar explains how his pursuit of wealth saw him attempt to take it by force.

This clip could be played after some initial discussion of the term ‘The American Dream’. Students could be asked to describe what they understand by this term. This clip could then be used to illustrate what some American people believe about the American Dream. Students could compare this to their understanding of the term.
