The planet Uranus
Description
A quick guide to the planet Uranus, which is composed of gas and water with a solid core. Its surface is surrounded by a dense fog. It has a greenish appearance and is often referred to as the ‘sideways Planet’. It is seventh from the sun.
Classroom Ideas
Pupils could use this clip to learn about Uranus’ main features. Afterwards, pupils could study the other planets, (using more BBC clips) recording similar and contrasting facts, as well as locating their position in relation to Earth and the Sun. The children could choose to study one planet in detail and convince other pupils of its significance, using persuasive language and impressive scientific facts, as shown in the clip.
