Did you notice that all of the orders use the form of the verb found in the dictionary? This is known as the imperative. It is used in Irish to give instructions or orders to someone else.
To form the imperative, all you need is the dictionary headword for the verb.
léigh (read) - Léigh do leabhar! - Read your book!
ól (drink) - Ól an t-uisce! - Drink the water!
What if you wanted to tell someone not to do something? To form the negative in the imperative, all you do is add ná before the order.
ith (eat) - Ná ith do mhilseog! - Don't eat your dessert!
rith (run) - Ná rith sa seomra ranga. - Don't run in the classroom.

Prepositions
Irish, just like English, uses prepositions to show where things are placed.
A preposition is a word that describes where or how one thing is in relation to another. In English, the words on, at, in, beside and under are examples of prepositions.
You can use the prepositions on the right to help describe where things are in the classroom. You can also look at the examples below to show you how to use these prepositions in sentences in Irish.

Tá an peann ar an deasc.
Tá an múinteoir os comhair an tábla.

The teacher is in front of the table.
The ruler is in the book.
The bin is between the windows.
What if you wanted to say something wasn't somewhere?
To put the sentences into the negative form, you change tá to níl.
Níl an peann ar an deasc.
Níl an múinteoir os comhair an tábla.
Níl an rialóir sa leabhar.
Níl an bosca bruscair idir na fuinneoga.
The pen is not on the desk.
The teacher is not in front of the table.
The ruler is not in the book.
The bin is not between the windows.
