World Book Day is an event that happens in the UK every year in March.

It is a celebration of reading and all things books.

Lots of people like to get involved by sharing their love of books.

As a way of bringing stories to life, some children like to celebrate this day by dressing up as their favourite book character.

What makes a story?

There are some things that all stories have:

  • a beginning, a middle and an end - this helps the story make sense and gives it structure.

  • a plot - this is what happens in a story

  • a genre - this is the type of story it is, such as an adventure story, scary story or a fairy tale.

Why not have a go at writing your own story?
