This video breaks down the plot of Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. It centres on a group of student ‘clones’ whose main goal in life is to care for other donors, before donating their own vital organs. It was published in 2005 but is set in the 1990s. However, Ishiguro’s version of 1990s society is not one that readers will recognise.
