Religion and politics

Sometimes Christians have opinions on issues which are different from the law of the land - but sometimes Church and state work together.

  • is illegal in Northern Ireland - the Catholic Church opposes abortion
  • is legal in countries such as Switzerland and Belgium - the Catholic Church is opposed to euthanasia
  • drugs are legal in some countries such as Canada and illegal in others - the Church is opposed to taking of illegal drugs

Other issues which Church and state might not agree on are same sex marriage, , population control and the death penalty.
