Constructing a triangle using a compass
You may be required to construct a triangle given \({3}\) sides (SSS). To do this you will need a ruler and a compass, but not a protractor as you do not have any information about the angles.
The method involves drawing arcs with a compass, from the ends of the given line, to meet at the third vertex of the triangle.

Place compass point at point P, and draw an arc using compass opened to 7 cm.

Place compass point at point R, and draw an arc using compass opened to 8 cm, so as to cross the first arc.

Label the point where these arcs cross, as Q, and complete the triangle by drawing straight lines from P to Q and R to Q.
