Robert the Bruce was the grandson of the Bruce who had been a Competitor in the Great Cause of 1291-1292.

  • By 1306, he wanted to become King of Scotland.
  • Bruce was undoubtedly a fiercely determinded man.
  • He would eventually create an independent Scotland.
