Desde hace with the present tense
Desde hace is used with the A verb that describes an action that is happening now or that happens regularly, eg I eat breakfast every day. to say how long you have been doing something, or how long something has been happening. For example:
- Estudio inglés desde hace dos años. - I've been studying English for two years.
- Llueve desde hace tres horas. - It's been raining for three hours.
In other words, you use:
When used in a question, desde hace often comes at the start:
- ¿Desde hace cuánto tiempo vives en España? - How long have you been living in Spain?

Rearrange the words to make a sentence. Translate the sentences into English.

1.sol desde horas. cuatro Tomo hace el
Tomo el sol desde hace cuatro horas. (I've been sunbathing for four hours.)

2.cinco Hacemos hace gimnasia años. desde
Hacemos gimnasia desde hace cinco años. (We've been doing gymnastics for five years.)

Estoy enfermo desde hace una semana. (I've been ill for a week.)

Carla trabaja en México desde hace seis meses. (Carla has been working in Mexico for six months.)

¿Desde hace cuánto tiempo tocas la trompeta? (How long have you been playing the trumpet?) It is also possible to say ¿Tocas la trompeta desde hace cuánto tiempo?
